NC EXTENDS MEDICAID COVERAGE TO YOUNG ADULTS
North Carolina has extended Medicaid coverage to young adults 18 to 21 who aged out of the foster care system.
Are you now between the ages of 18 and 21? Did you age out of North Carolina foster care at age 18? If so, you may be eligible for free medical coverage through the Extended Foster Care Medicaid program.
The North Carolina legislature recently approved funding to provide Medicaid coverage to young adults now aged 18 to 21who aged out of the North Carolina foster care system. This is available without regard to your income or assets. In order to apply for benefits, go to the North Carolina county Department of Social Services to apply. You will need to apply for all Medicaid programs, so will need to show proof of citizenship, residency and your income. It is a good idea to call the agency first to find out what information you will need to bring with you.
